Light classical background music, romantic strolling musicians-live musical entertainment for a perfect Cape Town wedding is what the Hungarian Trio provided for lovely Ulrike van der Horst’s wedding. As a member of her own string quartet, she is a discerning musician and chose our unique mix.Her splendid venue was Hidden Valley in December,in the Stellenbosch Winelands.

For her Wedding March,Ulrike chose the Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, and the groom being Jewish,Siman Tov was played after the breaking of the traditional glass during the ceremony. The officiant was Peter Fox,a favourite marriage officer .We always enjoy the pleasure of listening to his wise, inspiring guided reflections.Peter can be reached through St Luke’s Hospice -

During lunch, the guests revelled in the delicious food provided by Overture Restaurant, with its magnificent view over the Winelands. This restaurant is the worthy recipient of a Diners’s Club Platinum Award, and was voted 4th best restaurant in South Africa in the Prudential Eat Out Awards. The Wedding Cake too,was utterly delectable! Indeed a discerning client, for food and music too!Through the tables we strolled, serenading everyone with their own lovely tunes.

At the wedding,we were delighted to see Ulrike’s parents,long-time clients of ours.Johannes is now a retired Old Mutual top executive, and Elinore his wife is a great music-lover.For her,we played her favourite ,Di Rigori from Der Rosenkavalier.

Later, everyone happily danced waltzes and tango’a with great abandon. A wedding in a million.

We performed the Wedding March , light classical background music ,and next to the Wedding Cake, stirring gipsy tunes while serenading the guests at Jo-Ann Stanford’s beautiful wedding at Zevenwacht Wine Estate in Kuilsriver.

This is always a favourite ,romantic venue, with the Marriage Ceremony being held next to a lovely natural lake on rolling green lawns, surrounded by shady trees,in front of the historic Manor House. The bride entered to the famous Kanon in D by Pachelbel, and exited to the Wedding March by Mendelssohn. Her special request was for Beethoven’s Ode To Joy,we were happy to oblige her. What a wonderful, romantic wedding, what happy guests!

BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO-farewell banquet for top executive

In December we went to the Headquarters of British American Tobacco,

located in Stellenbosch,to play for the farewell banquet of Hennie Dippenaar, one of their top executives who had decided to take early retirement and enjoy time with his family. We had played for Hennie before, some years previously, for his 50th birthday party, held at Barrique

situated in Vredenheim. We are always very happy to play music again for our satisfied clients, and to catch up on their news. This particular evening, like the one at Barrique, was a beautiful and elegantly happy evening. There were many moving tributes to Hennie and his achievements.Food was wonderful, provided by Pink Caterers.

On the last day of December we drove to the heart of the Elgin Valley,to Southhill Estate,a wonderful wine farm overlooking the rolling hills and valleys.

Under a shady tree,Charline Mingot,a beautiful girl all the way from France, and her beloved, made their vows.  Several chic friends from France joined the local South Africans in drinking the health of the happy couple in the most delicious French Champagne. They were all enchanted by the French cafe’ music played by the clever strolling musicians of the Hungarian Trio! Under Paris Skies, She by Charles Aznavour, C’est ci Bon, La Vie an Rose and so on-in addition we did all our gypsy music as per the wishes of the lovely bride. A simple, beautiful ,most memorable wedding.

We played a delightful wedding at Edenheim in December. We are always very happy to play at Edenheim, situated in the Paarl Winelands.

It is a particularly pretty venue, with a cool and beautiful circular large pond ,in the middle of which is a small island where the couple can say their vows, encircled by flowers and shady trees. The venue itself is blissfully cool, most welcome in the sweltering heat of the Boland summer! The owners of the venue are incredibly warm, friendly, hospitable people who make sure that everything runs smoothly and that everyone feels at home.

This was a happy occasion on the Day of Reconciliation,we started with light classics to set the tone next to the water, and continued with contemporary romantic favourites, jazz standards and of course the guests were thrilled by the strolling musicians who serenaded them with Pavarotti favourites and music from the shows!

We were delighted to play for beautiful Marcia Krige’s wedding on the family wine farm,Kanonkop,in the Stellenbosch Winelands.

The glorious front garden overflowed with flowers ,and even the family dogs were most smart in their colourful scarves. The elegant guests greatly enjoyed the fine wines of Kanonkop, and our vibrant live musical entertainment. We were very happy to bump into several previous clients, who had been so kind as to recommend us.Of course,we played their favourite tunes for them, from romantic serenades to jazz standards.
